The best football matches that I have been to live have been:

1. Manchester United versus Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League Final at the Nou Camp. United were missing virtually their entire midfield due to the fact that both Paul Scholes and Roy Keane were suspended meaning that David Beckham was partnered by Nicky Butt in United’s central midfield and it looked like United would lose the game until two goals in injury time from Sheringham and Solskjaer won them the game and trophy. 2. One of the first football matches that I ever went to was when my then lodger Paco took me to Anfield to watch Newcastle United versus Liverpool during the 1995/96 Premiership season. My accommodation was at the Hilton Munich Park where the England team was also staying and I sat up drinking until four in the morning with the England kit man in the hotel lobby hearing lurid stories about the shenanigans that the players got up to on away tours.
